ABCs to Reading® Cornerstone is The Reading Alliance’s structured literacy tutoring program designed to help children become confident, capable readers. Built on the Science of Reading, our lessons teach students how reading actually works — from recognizing sounds in words to decoding, spelling, and understanding text. During each live online session, students work directly with a trained instructor who guides them through engaging, step-by-step activities that build the essential foundations of reading. Lessons focus on phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, and early comprehension skills while giving students the confidence to tackle new words on their own. This tutoring experience is especially helpful for children who: • Guess at words instead of sounding them out • Struggle with letter sounds or blending • Avoid reading or feel frustrated when reading • Need stronger early literacy foundations Our goal is simple: teach your child how to decode words and understand what they read so that reading becomes easier, clearer, and more enjoyable. Sessions are delivered in small, supportive online groups or individualized instruction, allowing each student to receive focused attention while learning skills they can immediately apply to their reading. Recommended for students in PreK through 2nd grade or for older learners who need additional support with foundational reading skills.
