How We Began

The Reading Alliance was founded in response to the challenge of improving the reading proficiency scores in K-3 students while diversifying the teacher pipeline with male teachers in Arizona. Through our partnership with local districts, charter schools and parents, we've managed to increase our reach by implementing a research and evidence-based reading proficiency model that supports the advancement of all students.

WHEN STUDENTS HAVE MALE TEACHERS, THEY DO BETTER IN SCHOOL.

Male educators play a crucial role in elementary education, offering diverse perspectives and serving as positive role models for young students. Despite their importance, men are significantly underrepresented in this field. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, only 11% of elementary school teachers in the United States are male. Addressing the shortage of male educators in elementary schools is essential for fostering balanced learning environments and providing students with a well-rounded educational experience.
