Trusted by educators, families, and schools to build strong readers through structured literacy and phonics-based instruction.

Discover How Your Child Is Really Doing in Reading
Many children struggle with reading not because they lack intelligence or motivation, but because they were never taught the fundamental skills that make reading possible.
Reading success depends on five key foundations:
• Phonemic Awareness
• Phonics & Decoding
• Fluency
• Vocabulary
• Comprehension
The Reading Alliance helps families and schools build these foundations using evidence-based literacy instruction aligned with the Science of Reading.
Start by discovering where your child currently stands.

Learning to read should not be confusing.
A Clear Path for Parents and Families
The Reading Alliance provides a step-by-step pathway for children to become confident readers, whether they are just starting kindergarten or already struggling with reading in early elementary school. Parents can begin with three simple steps:

The ABCs to Reading® Method
The Reading Alliance developed ABCs to Reading®, a structured literacy approach that helps children understand how written language works.
Unlike guessing-based reading strategies, ABCs to Reading teaches children to:
• Recognize and manipulate sounds in spoken language
• Connect sounds to letters through explicit phonics instruction
• Blend sounds together to read unfamiliar words
• Build fluency through structured practice
• Develop confidence through successful reading experiences
ABCs to Reading is built on the principles of the Science of Reading, which decades of cognitive research show is the most effective way to teach children how to read.
Why Early Literacy Matters
Reading proficiency by third grade is one of the strongest predictors of long-term academic success.
Children who struggle to read early often face challenges in every subject that follows.
The Reading Alliance works to change this trajectory by helping children develop the skills needed to become confident readers from the very beginning.
Through research-based instruction, family support, and community partnerships, we are working to build a future where every child has the opportunity to succeed in reading.
Programs and Support for Families
The Reading Alliance offers multiple ways for families to support their child's literacy development.
