Why TRA works

1

Personalized learning

Students have a flexible schedule, filling in gaps in their understanding and then accelerating their learning.

2

Proven framework

Created by experts, TRA’s framework is trusted and Science of Reading aligned. Alphabet knowledge, phonological and phonemic awareness, oral/vocabulary, and comprehension are all covered in TRA's activities and lessons.

3

Tools to empower teachers

With TRA, teachers will have a dedicated literacy specialist in their classroom 4 days a week.

In a recent study, students literacy scores increase by at least 30% when a TRA Leader is in the classroom. Districts across Maricopa County are partnering with us to ensure all their students succeed.

TEACHERS

“There’s not a lot of male tutors or teachers or men of color and our kids really look up to them. I’ve noticed, especially our boys getting more involved and wanting to learn and not always just play.”

STUDENTS AND PARENTS

 You can learn how to

 READ.

Build a deep, solid understanding in literacy, Alphabet Knowledge, Phonological & Phonemic Awareness, Oral/Vocabulary, Comprehension, and more.

“I’ve never heard of anything like this program before I came here, as far as a specific program for young Black and Brown men, introduced to an education system is unheard of where I’m from. It made me happy that there’s something going on like this. It was really breathtaking to see that this is actually a program that’s happening.”

WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE

 Every child deserves
the chance to read.

Across Arizona, 75% of minority students are minimally proficient in reading skills. The Reading Alliance works to unleash the power of community working together to solve the literacy problem our students face. We believe all children should be reading at grade level by the end of third grade— the time at which reading to learn, and not just learning to read, becomes essential.
